Lucy

My rescue dog Lucy, who I saved from a kill shelter in September of 2003, has saved me. I know its said over and over; who saved who. But it’s true. In 2008, I was suffering from situational depression and the only reason I had to get out of bed was HER. Because I knew she depended on me, I got help for my depression because I didn’t want to abandon her. She has been my constant companion. Loyal to me to such a  point she will look to me for direction in a social setting. I have not trained her to do anything she just is that way. This year I almost lost her to drowning. I was 2 min. from giving up on finding her and my friend Scott spotted her under a dock, she was in the water 1 hour and 45 min. Hanging on to a piece of wood on a piling. I know I will loose her one day and I know its my responsibility to walk her home with grace. She trusts me to do that. She is 13-1/2, has diabetes, heavy cataracts and her hearing is all but gone. I know that time is closer than not. Until then, she will be loved, spoiled and the most important thing in my life besides my Mother. She is family.
